Getting Started with NFC Tag Programming
What You Need:
- NFC reader/writer
- Computer with USB port
- NFC tags/cards
Step 1: Connect Your NFC Reader/Writer
- Plug your NFC reader/writer into a USB port on your computer. Look for a red light indicator, which signifies that the device is powered.
Step 2: Download the Necessary Software
- Visit CXJsmart and download the NFC Tools software that’s compatible with your computer’s operating system. Make use of the download links provided on the right side of the page.
Step 3: Install the Software
- Open the downloaded file (.DMG for macOS, .exe for Windows) and follow the installation prompts. Continue through the steps until the software is fully installed on your computer.
Step 4: Launch the Application
- Navigate to your applications folder and open the NFC Tools app. A straightforward interface with a white background should greet you.
Step 5: Test the Reader/Writer
- Test the functionality of your NFC reader/writer by placing an NFC item on the platform. Successful detection will be indicated by a beep, and relevant information should appear under the app’s first tab.
Step 6: Programming Your NFC Tag
- To write data to an NFC tag, select the “Write” tab followed by “Add a Record.”
- For compatibility with all smartphones (Apple and Android) without needing an additional app, choose the Custom URL / URI option. Note that programming other types of data may require an app to read.
- Enter your desired webpage link into the textbox and click OK.
- Place your NFC tag or card on the reader/writer platform. The “write” button will become active.
- Click “Write.” If successful, a message will appear along with a checkmark.
Troubleshooting
- If you encounter a red X, ensure the tag is correctly positioned and try again.
- Use the “Read” function to check if your tag is writable and not password protected. Tags showing “Writable: No” are locked and cannot be programmed.
- If a tag is password-protected, you can attempt to remove the password in the “Other” tab, provided you know the appropriate password. Without the password, a locked tag cannot be reprogrammed.
Step 7: Repeat for Additional Tags
- You can proceed to program more NFC tags by repeating the steps above.
